This week, we celebrate and appreciate the incredible school counselors who support, guide, and uplift our students every single day. From helping students navigate academic challenges to providing emotional support and advocating for their well-being, school counselors are essential pillars of Fargo Public Schools. Your compassion, dedication, and tireless work make a lasting impact on the lives of so many. Thank you for the heart you bring to your work, the safe spaces you create, and the difference you make in our schools and communities. Winter Extravaganza

Trollwood Mentorship Program student Terth Tuel held a capstone performance, titled "A Winter Extravaganza," to showcase everything she worked on and learned in the first semester. She received personal instruction from professional mentors in dancing, singing, and acting.

Semester One Graduation

Congratulations to the Virtual Academy graduates who were recognized at the school's first official graduation ceremony on January 24. Seven students participated in the graduation ceremony out of the 13 VA students who met requirements and elected to graduate after Semester 1.

Virtual Learning

Fargo Public Schools (FPS) offers virtual learning for students living within the FPS District boundaries. FPS utilizes Imagine Edgenuity and the North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) to provide curriculum to students who request a virtual learning option. Lessons are asynchronous, meaning students may access them at any time on their device. Scheduled support is also available via video conferencing.

  • Elementary students (k-5) are enrolled in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Art, Technology, and Physical Education/Health.
  • Middle School students (6-8) are enrolled in Math, Science, Social Studies, English and elective courses.
  • High School students (9-12) are enrolled in three courses at one time and have nine weeks to complete them. Successfully completing six courses per semester keeps students on track for graduation.

Virtual Academy requires a full-semester commitment, a designated at-home learning coach, and careful planning and discussion for the family prior to enrolling. It is not a short-term absence solution, a vacation learning option, the sole responsibility of the student, or a learning option for families who do not have at-home supports in place to ensure the success of their student(s). Enrollment is based on deadlines, availability, and prior success in virtual learning.

Registration

Registration is open for Virtual Academy, but please be aware that students transferring to Virtual Academy will not have the opportunity to do so until second semester (January). Please click here for more information.

School Emergency Drills

Emergencies are, by their nature, unpredictable. However, when students and staff are well-prepared, the response can be swift and effective. Emergency drills are vital to help build a school-wide culture of safety. Teaching students and staff exactly what to do, whether it's a fire, a lockdown situation, or a tornado, prepares them to respond in the first moments in the safest way possible.
