Music in our schools month March 2026

March is Music in Our Schools Month. Fargo Public Schools traditionally has had and continues to cultivate an especially strong music program, so strong that it has been named one of the National Association of Music Merchants' “Best Communities for Music Education” for 16 consecutive years and 22 out of the last 26. Because of the dedication of all stakeholders associated with FPS, our students continue to be recipients of and active participants in high-quality, robust, rigorous, and enriching music experiences.

Virtual Learning

Fargo Public Schools (FPS) offers virtual learning for students living within the FPS District boundaries. FPS utilizes Imagine Edgenuity and the North Dakota Center for Distance Education (NDCDE) to provide curriculum to students who request a virtual learning option. Lessons are asynchronous, meaning students may access them at any time on their device. Scheduled support is also available via video conferencing.

  • Elementary students (k-5) are enrolled in Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Art, Technology, and Physical Education/Health.
  • Middle School students (6-8) are enrolled in Math, Science, Social Studies, English and elective courses.
  • High School students (9-12) are enrolled in three courses at one time and have nine weeks to complete them. Successfully completing six courses per semester keeps students on track for graduation.

Virtual Academy requires a full-semester commitment, a designated at-home learning coach, and careful planning and discussion for the family prior to enrolling. It is not a short-term absence solution, a vacation learning option, the sole responsibility of the student, or a learning option for families who do not have at-home supports in place to ensure the success of their student(s). Enrollment is based on deadlines, availability, and prior success in virtual learning.

Communities in Schools is grounded in a simple but powerful idea: students learn best when their basic needs are met and when they have trusted adults helping them navigate school, home, and community challenges. CIS social workers partner closely with school teams to support students through individual case management, connections to resources, and school-wide supports that align with each school’s improvement goals.

Infinite Campus Logo

As part of a state-wide project, this summer FPS switch from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus as our student information system. By the middle of July, Infinite Campus will become our active system moving forward. This change will impact access to PowerSchool, which will be retired and replaced with a new Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Once Infinite Campus is active in July, parents and guardians should be on the lookout for an email from FPS inviting them to activate their new Campus Parent Portal account.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow Image

February is the heart of the school year, a time when learning deepens, routines are tested, and the weather doesn’t always make showing up easy. Research shows that students who miss just a few days each month, excused or unexcused, can fall significantly behind in academic progress. Over time, this adds up to real consequences for overall achievement and future opportunities. Attendance in February can shape outcomes in May.
