Summer/Community Opportunities
Sanford youth EMS program is for students ages 15-18 who are interested in hands-on experience through observation and participation with paramedics and EMTs. Opportunities to ride along with staff in ambulances on actual emergencies.
ND Governor's School is a 4-week residential experience during the month of June for sophomore or junior students with a passion for engineering, information technology, lab sciences, or mathematics. Students are able to live on campus at NDSU for these 4 weeks and be paired with a professor to research or work on a project in their related field. Applications are due by January 15, 2026.
North Dakota Governor's School
North Dakota Girls State is a weeklong residential program held June 14-19, 2026 on the University of North Dakota campus in Grand Forks. This program is open to all females with an interest in learning about government and how their voice matters. Participating students can earn a high school credit. Students are sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary so the $325 fee is waived. The deadline to register is May 15, 2026.
North Dakota Boys State is a weeklong residential program held June 14-19, 2026 on the North Dakota State College of Science campus in Wahpeton. It provides firsthand experience in running state government to junior boys across North Dakota with opportunities to work together and develop their talents and leadership skills. There is no cost to attend and students can earn high school credit.
North Dakota Leadership Seminar is a 3-day program held on the University of Jamestown campus the last first weekend of June. More information is at the link below, but if interested in attending, contact your counselor (Mrs. Boehm) to complete your nomination.

Hugh O'Brian is a 3-day leadership seminar held on the Bismarck State College Campus the weekend of June 19-21. This seminar is for sophomores who are interested in community service and excited to connect with peers across the state. More information is at the link below. Cost of attendance is $225. Deadeline to apply is March 20. If interested, contact your counselor (Mrs. Boehm) to complete your nomination.
Joyce Ivy is a program committed to the academic advancement and leadership development of young women from the Midwest. Participants can apply to the summer scholar program which allows sophomore and junior girls to participate in pre-college programs at some of the most selective colleges in the country. The application for this year opens on December 7, 2025.
